When it's a person you don't like. This is usually preceded buy an adjective. "He is a big old piece (piece of shit)." Can be a place or location but is usually not one's own residence or a friend's as it has negative overtones. "Look at all the dope fiends up in this piece (shooting gallery or crack house)." When using drugs and will be specific to the type being used. "I got some shards (crystal meth) you got a piece? (incense burner or glass bubble pipe used for smoking meth)."
