A slang term for Lorain, Ohio. A city on Lake Erie just west of Cleveland.
Lorain is an old, urban industrial city. The city reached its peak population in the 70s at roughly 90,000 and has been losing population ever since. It has the highest Hispanic percentage of any city in Ohio and is the largest Hispanic community in Ohio outside of Clevelands near Westside, South Lorain is majority Puerto Rican. Lorain is approaching 50% minority. The crime and murder rate in the city averages about 2-3 times higher than the US average. There's around 25 street gangs with an estimated 2,200 gang members citywide. Over 2/3 of the city is considered "tha hood", and around 1/4 of the population is in poverty. The only attraction to outsiders is Lakeview Park. Strangely people have pride for the city despite how crappy it is.

Welcome to L Town where people from here love to say how crappy the city is and how much they hate it, but if anyone from outside the city says 1 disrespectful word about Lorain they'll be found tied to cinder blocks at the bottom of the Black River.

many claim he's the best skateboarder, but most skaters believe that no one deserves such a title since there are so many guys who are as good as tony that it's impossible to make a comparison like that.
he's also the founder of the tony hawk foundation, an organization that raises money and builds skateparks for kids in need of them.
some hate him because he endorses mainstream companies, while others are die hard fans. any way you look at it, you have to admit that he's for real and he's highly responsible for the way skateboarding is percieved by the public today.
i suggest reading his autobiography for more info, as this definition does not do him justice.

tony hawk became a pro skater when he was 14. he was an outcast, as all skaters were of that time period. he skated because he loved it. little did he know at the time, his persistence through the death of skating in the early 90's and all of his other struggles would end up rewarding him with an amazing career.

Get the tony hawk mug.The worst Tony Hawk game I have ever played. Trying to make a button mashing game challenging by making you have to combo EVERYTHING is just stupid. Even the distance challenges seem glitchy, where you have to get about 10 feet past the Sick marker for it to actually give you a sick rating. Most of the challenges require tons of trial and error and way more patience than it's worth. Sometimes it's even hard to find a challenge, because they're scattered all over the place, and there's still the annoying gaps to find which have very vague names that could mean anything and you either have to gap everything or just look online for the gap locations
