This is an argument generally used by right-wing or pro-capitalist people or politicians in regards to their ideological views on communism. This is related to their often bipolar or unfounded claims that communism is such a terrible system that it simply falls on its own, while simultaneously being so powerful that it needs to be personally dismantled from outside powers like the United States of America.

You'll never meet most fellow members, but you feel a powerful, abstract kinship that can influence your politics, risk tolerance, and sense of self, proving the "imagined" is a potent social force.
