Idiot light

A lighted indicator on your car's dashboard that appears when you are getting dangerously low on fuel. It is a little red dot that lights up next to the E on your gas gauge. Where it lights up on the dashboard, the amount of gas that is left in your gas tank, and how far you can drive before running out of gas is different for each car make/model. It is called an idiot light because you are an idiot if you don't get more gas, or you're an idiot for letting your gas go so low.

Oh no, my idiot light just came on. I have just enough gas to get to my destination, but I'll have to get gas on the way home.
