Benedict Cockblock

A name coined by comedian Adam Carolla to describe a male who cock blocks other males.
Benedict Cockblock is a derivative of the name Benedict Arnold and is close cousin of the Uncle Dude.

The name first appeared on the 2.27.2009 episode of Adam Carolla's podcast during a conversation with guest Bill Simmons.

Whenever you're talking to somebody, and no matter what or how many witty or interesting things you say, they reply with things such as, "cool" or "yeah." They won't allow a good conversation by making it suck with their one word answers.

A phenomenon in which a female marks her territory (potential mate) by posting suggestive and flirtatious expressions for the world to see on facebook or expressed in person at work in public to a potential mate. Thus marking her territory as if the male has been chosen by god himself, effectively cockblocking the male for months.

What she bought u clothes and wants you to wear it to work? That's not nice it's just a cockblock stigmata for every other girl to see.

In most literal meaning - to subconsciously destroy otherwise smoothly going flirtation (often with just one misused word or sentence) which otherwise could very well end up in sexual intercourse.
As a metaphor - to destroy a chance for something good with silly, easilly avoidable mistake.
Synonym for self-sabotage.
