Cornell Spelling Bee

This is a term coined by Demarcus Cousins refering to the David versus Goliath match up of Kentucky and Cornell, or as it was coined by The Boston Globe as the Smart kids versus Dumb Kids.

25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

That one musical written by William Finn with a long-ass name. It's about a bunch of children with exaggerated personalities and very tragic backstories at a spelling bee. It also boasts the song "My Unfortunate Erection" that will always get censored by the school doing it.
Guy 1: "Hey, Quinn got into the school musical, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!"

Guy 2: "Who does she play?"

Commonwealth spelling

An imaginary set of English spelling rules, cited from a politically-correct wish to be inclusive or out of ignorance of Canadian English. There are only three varieties of spelling in English: British, US, and Canadian (the last is often described as a combination of the first two). English spelling in all other places follows one of these conventions. At least two of these forms are prominently used in countries of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Which kind of “Commonwealth spelling” is this, British spelling or Canadian spelling?

citation-spelling nightmare

What a member of da "area's finest" --- especially one who never did too well in grammar-school --- finds himself faced with when trying to scribble out a summons-to-appear slip involving people/objects/locales with less-than-common names.
