In this state, one need not accomplish anything oneself but can take great pride in the accomplishments of others as though they are personal accomplishments because the group is viewed a personal extension.

Ergo Proxy

An amazing anime based off of Renee Descartes quote "cogito ergo sum" Translated it means "Because I think, therefore I am". It has an amazing storyline, intrigueing characters, and an awing visual experiance. It also makes refeences to philosphy and famous art pieces (Michaelangelo's moon and sun statues and the painting Ophelia). This anime banishes the common phrase "anime is only for children" and even more common "anime is only for perverts" If you like adult, inteligent anime, or just good TV. Watch Ergo Proxy.

abuse by proxy

If all else fails, the abuser recruits friends, colleagues, mates, family members, the authorities, institutions, neighbours, the media, teachers – in short, third parties – to do his bidding. He uses them to cajole, coerce, threaten, stalk, offer, retreat, tempt, convince, harass, communicate and otherwise manipulate his target. He controls these unaware instruments exactly as he plans to control his ultimate prey. He employs the same mechanisms and devices. And he dumps his props unceremoniously when the job is done.

One form of control by proxy is to engineer situations in which abuse is inflicted upon another person. Such carefully crafted scenarios of embarrassment and humiliation provoke social sanctions (condemnation, opprobrium, or even physical punishment) against the victim. Society, or a social group become the instruments of the abuser.

Ad Proximum Convivium

A Latin term meaning "on to the next party." The "V's" are pronounced as "W's" as per traditional Latin prononciation. (Ad proximum conwiwium)

Popularized by the Seattle-based radio show/podcast Too Beautiful to Live (TBTL).

TBTL just got cancelled as a radio show, but is still a podcast. Oh well, ad proximum convivium, I suppose.

Proximity shag

One may travel many shag miles to have sex with the right person. However, some people are either fortunate enough to have their sexual partner nearby.

Others, though, may simply be lazy or unimaginative and find or remain with their sexual partner simply because they are close to er.. hand. This is a "proximity shag" (noun and verb).

A: We split up because he is too many shag miles away. You on the other hand...

B: ...live next door. That makes me a...

A: ... proximity shag.

B: I suddenly don't feel very special.
