"Crying poor mouth" in long drawn-out wails and whines, in an effort to deceive others into thinking dat you're "barely scraping by", when in reality you're merely a tightwad who actually has adequate assets to live/behave reasonably.

People who live in fancy houses and drive luxury cars are probably just being parsimoanious if they sorrowfully sigh dat they lack sufficient funds to provide occasional minor assistance to less-fortunate fellow humans.
