'Noto' Super typhoons are characterized by sustained winds of at least 150 miles per hour (240 kilometers per hour) or higher, which can cause significant damage to coastal areas and offshore structures. These storms can also produce heavy rainfall, storm surges, and flooding, resulting in widespread devastation and loss of life. The term "Noto" is used by the U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) to describe storms with maximum sustained winds of 130 knots (about 150 miles per hour) or higher.
