Mirror Shimmy

The act of walking down a street or corridor towards someone and drifting sideways to avoid the other person, only to find they've done the same and you're still on a collision-course. This is sometimes repeated until bothe parties stop with a sheepish laugh or cheesy comment about dancing.

Gorilla in the Mirror Syndrome

Gorilla in the Mirror Syndrome or GOMS is when try and have a serious argument with someone, but they don't fully understand the reason for the position or assume you're position is different to what it actually is and think you're position is just selfish, vindictive or evil and carry on arguing with you based what they think you're position is rather than what it actually is. Quickly dismissing every point you, no matter how carefully it's done.

An example is Cathy Newman when interviewing Jordan Perterson.

Taken from the theory that Gorillas probably are self-aware like the other great apes, however when a Gorilla is shown a mirror it will just continuously attack it before it has a chance to realise what its actually looking at.

She's not listening to you, she has Gorilla in the mirror syndrome.

Mirror Shot

A photo taken of oneself in his or her bathroom mirror usually with a cellular telephone camera. Mirror shots are taken by either toolbags or sluts that usually post them to social sites in order to gain attention either through compliments (eg "bra, you're so ripped!") or criticisms (eg bra, you're so gay). The duchiest of mirror shots are those that are taken without a shirt on, usually accompanied by sunglasses and/or by a face known as a "grill". Females taking mirror shots usually expose large amounts of cleavage and often push out their rear ends to appear like they have more "junk in the trunk" then in actuality. People who post these mirror shots are likely candidates for mirror masterbation although that is not always the case.

A general term used to describe motorcycle gloves that have armored knuckles which are capable of punching off the side mirror of a car without causing any pain or injury to the rider.

An Orwellian state that watches your every action and tracks everything without the knowledge of the governed. Think a Two Way Mirror. First coined on the XKCD forums.

With all of the Big Brother-esque surveillance currently in place that has been deemed Classified for "National Security Reasons" The USA is a Half-Mirror Society just begging for revolution.

We need to stay away from becoming a half-mirror society.

mirror-stepping

Noun: The process of almost walking into a person, then trying to get around them, only to have both parties end up moving in the same direction, blocking one another. Often occurs multiple times during an exchange.

Person 1: Hey what took you so long to get to class?
Person 2: I ended up mirror-stepping James. I went right first, but he went the same direction. It happened a few times. Finally I just stood still and let him walk by.
Person 1: I hate it when that happens.
