ethergoth

Ethergoth is a subgenre of gothic fashion & music. The name stems from the ethereal music scene that began in the 80's. It can be characterized by it's serene, ambient qualities & unusual, often hard to define lyrics. The fashion of an ethergoth is more subtle or toned down than other versions of goth. They wear simple, all-black outfits that channel medieval or romantic gothic styles. Bell sleeves, amazing hats, & elegant skirts are common among girls in the scene, while ethergoth men wear poet shirts or tee shirts with simple black jeans. Jewel tone colors can be found among ethergoths quite commonly. The personality of a person who enjoys ethergoth music & fashion tends to be a quiet thoughtful soul who would rather read a good book, sip tea, or take a walk in the park than hang out at a noisy club. They love to surround themselves with the unique beauty they see in the world & can be found creating, painting, collecting crystals & bones, & burning incense. Ethergoths love to educate themselves on matters of philosophy, literature, mythology, nature & the supernatural & can be a wealth of information. Some goths who normally wear more dramatic fare dress like ethergoths when they need to be more toned down for work, family reunions, etc. It is also a good way for young folk who are interested in becoming goth to dip their toes into the subculture without horrifying their parents.

It is the philisophical summary that, no matter what good you intend to do, as long as you live and continue, you will bring about just as much evil as good, if not more through accident or intent. Death becomes a saving grace, providing vindication for their actions and preventing a worsening of certain outcomes through inactivity.

Examples include:
Falling to the same corrupton you sought to eliminate. ( Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars, Lois Griffin from Family Guy)
Prolonged exposure to evil, despite good intentions. (Frodo from Lord of the Rings, Ice King from Adventure Time)
Narrow minded destruction in belief of a greater goal. (Harvey Dent from "The Dark Knight Rises")

Esther

A pretty girl thats always smiling. A great listener that always knows what to say and isn't afraid of telling you the truth. Loves adventures and has the best sense of humor. You guys will be weak off of the stupidest things but you'll always have the best time. Secretly sensitive but doesn't show it. Has very firm beliefs. Spiritual. You can trust one with your life. Argues a lot but only because they are passionate about so many things. Not the best driver. People gravitate to Esthers. An Esther gets along with pretty much anybody in the world because they have the best personality. You can't afford to be without one. If you don't know one you better find one and once you do, your life will never be the same. I guarantee you that if you meet one of these you will love them so much that every day without them will feel like a million years.

Diethyl ether

Diethyl ether is a solvent that is useful for grignard reactions. It's also an anesthetic. Diethyl ether is highly flammable (even electrical outlets and too high temperatures can ignite it. Diethyl ether must be stored with butylated hydroxytoluene to avoid peroxide products which are explosive. Diethyl ether is also sometimes used for extractions, but other solvents like ethyl chloride, chloroform, toluene, hexane, and dichloromethane are generally preferred. Diethyl ether is synthesized by reacting ethanol with sulfuric acid. This reaction must be carried out at temperatures lower than 150 °C in order to ensure that an elimination product (ethylene) is not a product of the reaction. At higher temperatures, ethanol will dehydrate to form ethylene. The reaction to make diethyl ether is reversible, so eventually an equilibrium between reactants and products is achieved. Getting a good yield of ether requires that ether be distilled out of the reaction mixture before it reverts to ethanol.

I reacted ethyl magnesium chloride in diethyl ether with acetone, then reacted it with hydrochloric acid, and got 2-methyl-2-butanol.
