For a comparison to fall under this fallacy, the arguer must both act like the situations are the same and make the other person feel bad about their own circumstance.

Get the asshole comparison mug.A societal phenomenon in which individuals habitually engage in the practice of constantly measuring themselves, their achievements, possessions, and life circumstances against those of others. This pervasive tendency is fueled by the prevalence of social media, advertising, and the ease of access to others' curated narratives, which can lead to feelings of inadequacy, envy, and anxiety.
Comparison Culture often fosters unrealistic standards of success and happiness, as individuals strive to match or surpass the perceived achievements of their peers, acquaintances, or even celebrities. This can result in detrimental effects on mental health, self-esteem, and overall well-being, as the relentless pursuit of comparison tends to overshadow one's own accomplishments and unique life journey.
