Chekhov's gun

A literary element that, at first, seems to have no purpose but is later revealed to be important to the plot. This is commonly thought of as a parallel of foreshadowing, but it is more properly interpreted as "do not include any unnecessary elements in a story."

The return of Carmelita Spats in The Slippery Slope after her seemingly unnecessary appearance in The Austere Academy is an example of Chekhov's gun.

The cat is both here and not here, while simultaneously being neither here, nor there. The cat cannot be nowhere, yet the cat is not everywhere. However, it may be anywhere, but it can only be somewhere. So, where is it?

"C'mon, just give up, already! You've been looking for that thing for hours! You might as well be looking for Schrodinger's Cheshire Cat!"

The same as "toilet" in Chinese, or "ce suo" with Northeastern Chinese accent. It is famous because of an internet celebrity, Lao Ba(Kwai ID: daoshilaoba), attempted to eat human feces, which soon became an internet sensation online.
