Amadamaphus was created on March 15th, 2009 @ an open mic event called "Storytellers" in Baltimore, MD. The host of the event was unable to come up with a word to describe the spoken word duo that was about to take the stage later that night. An audience member challenged him to come up with something by the time they were to perform. He returned to the stage later that night and exclaimed that these two people were "Amadamaphus".

It’s the most awesome igbo name which means Grace of God, though in some Igbo dialect it’s pronounced AMARACHUKWU which means the same but different dialect.
