Simply a shorter way of saying the word skeleton. Commonly said by players in many MMORPGs such as Runescape or Illarion where skeletons are one type of enemy available to combat. Plural form of the word is "skellies", but some players may use this type of spelling for the singular form of the word as well by saying "skellie".

If you had one extra jolly rancher and five friends who all wanted it you would yell "Skelly!" and throw it into the air. This would signal a free for all and thus relieving the thrower from having to choose favorites among friends. Additionally the thrower would aim for an area that could cause the most disruption and fighting for the prized possession.
