Not an argument and not exactly neutral territory, a shitata is a phase of interaction where shit is flung but the friendship is not over. Going through some shit with someone, basically. Can involve more than 1 person: the shitata is usually a grander scale shit slinging fest between multiple people. Like a brouhaha, but more catty.

Billy told Mary that Jane said that Esther was a total slut and now Billy's in the doghouse because Jane is pissed that he told Mary anything about her opinions of Esther. Mary told Annie & this all got back to Esther, who isn't talking to Jane anymore. Pfft...what a huge shitata!
