(Verb) To to push yourself to do something until you've attained it, pursue could also mean to chase something or someone but for a good reason, I hope.

One who is dedicated to the original and best version of various things. One who is not swayed in any way by trends, fads, styles, etc. of things. One who insists on high quality and is not interested in cheap knockoffs. One who detests all things that are inferior, even though these inferior things are hyped and promoted by the mainstream.

An old school purist who games would insist on playing the Original Dungeons & Dragons instead of all the later developed cheap imitations of the real thing.
