Anyone who takes the effort to look or act differently than they normally would to impress others. Usually very embarrassing to watch, though entertaining if it is someone you don't like. Almost always obvious.

1. You ought to go to a boy's school sometimes. Try it sometime. It's full of phonies, and all you do is study so that you can learn enough to be smart enough to be able to buy a goddam Cadillac some day, and you have to keep making believe you give a damn if the football team loses, and all you do is talk about girls and liquor and sex all day, and everybody sticks together in these dirty little goddam cliques. The guys that are on the basketball team stick together, the goddam intellectuals stick together, the guys that play bridge stick together. Even the guys that belong to the goddam Book-of-the-Month Club stick together.

I-phoney

People who just get the latest I-Phone without even considering any other phone on the market. They might like another brand more had they looked into it, but they don't care. They only need the I-Phone. Includes app developers who only design programs for I-Phones and completely ignore the entire Android OS as if it were a third world market.

Greg would love all the options on the HTC but he's an I-phoney.

I was trying to explain a widget to this I-phoney but they were looking at me like I was the crazy one!

phoney call

When you "answer" your cell phone even though it did NOT ring, in order to avoid speaking to someone annoying (1) who has walked up to you, or (2) called you on your phone.

Phoney calls:

(1)

{Annoying person walks up to you and starts talking}
"Hi, how's it going?"

{You} "Wait, hold one, my cell phone is vibrating."
{Reach into pocket, pull out phone, flip it open} "Oh man, I'm gonna have to take this. Sorry. We'll talk later.
{Walk away and fake a phone conversation}

(2)

{Someone annoying calls you from a NEW phone number, that you do NOT have programmed into your phone, so you "accidentally" answer it to see who it is}

{Annoying person} "Hi. How's it going?"

{You} "Oh great. Wait. Hey, I got another call coming in, it's pretty important, so I guess I'm gonna have to let you go. Sorry. Call back soon. Bye. {You hang up and NEVER answer that phone number again!}
