Cynically Optimistic

Somebody who acknowledges the fact that humanity is crap but also believes in its capacity to do good.

--Man I know the world has a lot of shitty people but I still think we can do some good here. I think I'm cynically optimistic.

--If you're that person who wants to cut the next jerk who cuts you in line, but also has genuine faith in humanity, you're cynically optimistic.

Monday Morning Optimist

A term used to describe someone who is optimistic in such situations where a majority of people (or, just one particular person) do not want to hear optimism because it is unwelcome; such as Monday morning in an office enviorment.

This term can also be used outside "the office" to describe someone who just might be too optimistic.

Person: I hate Monday mornings.
Optimist: Oh, but it's the start of a new week, the beginning of a new day! Isn't it beautiful out?
Person: You're such a Monday Morning Optimist... it's annoying.

optionalistic

Adjective applied to a student who tries to get out of a summer homework assignment by "thinking" it was optional.
It rarely works but might get you permission to hand the assignment in late.

Teacher, "Where is your summer book report?"
Student, "Uhh... I thought that was optional."
Teacher, "How optionalistic of you."
