A respectful Korean term used by females to call older males such as older male friends or older brothers, but now with the Hallyu kickin' in, people are using it being as annoying as the Japanese, "Kawaii" wave.

Usually used in the annoying way by crazy kpop or jpop fangirls.

Oppa is a word used by korean females to address male older than them who they are close to (biological or not).

It's often used in a romantic relationship when a girl refers to her boyfriend (or the girl hitting on a guy) who is older/same age as her.

Oppa literally means "older brother"

The male version of this word is hyung.
