Every thing ever one else is saying with the correction of one thing, he was not named nomar because his fathers name was ramon, and if ramon was backwards it would be nomar. Nomar Garciaparra's father's name is Amancio Garciaparra. So this cannot be the explanation of Nomar's name.
Its a huge rumor, especially in boston
