Cornsequences of corn subsidies to farmers leads to corn availability at price lower than production cost. This leads to high fructose corn syrup being used in all processed foods increasing burden of chronic diseases. It also leads to small mexican farmers being unable to compete with large american producers & death of diversity of the highly diverse varieties of traditional mexican corn farming leading to large scale monsanto corn monoculture
