Stems from a salutation used at the end of training for team sports used mostly in Northern Queensland, Australia where sports training for team sports is commonly on tuesdays.

It has come to mean "see you at our next apointed meeting" regardless of the day on which that meeting falls

Guy 1: "You're getting way better at free throws, man."
Guy 2: "Thanks, well I better get going. Catch ya Tuesday"
Guy 1: "Yeah, Catch ya Tuesday"

Catch ya on the wave has the same meaning as Catch ya on the flip side

It basically means you will be seeing the person you are addressing(typically a friend) later on.
