Avoidachop

Avoidachop (verb) – when someone ends a relationship or friendship with another person by simply avoiding them, or ignoring them. For those people not comfortable with the popular and highly effective e-chop approach, the ‘avoidachop’ can take anywhere between 5 days to two weeks (in severe cases it can take months, depending on the intelligence of the ‘choppee’) to achieve full effect.

It is generally practised when the ‘avoidachopper’:

(i) would prefer not to deal with the uncomfortable process of formally rejecting a person;
(ii) develops a phobia of all communication devices including telephones, mobile phones, computers, post offices, fax machines and morse code; or
(iii) is in a coma and unable to communicate with the rest of mankind.

Example 1:

Person 1: “I saw Helen out in the city the other night with a new bloke – I thought she was seeing that new guy?”
Person 2: “No, he avoidachopped her – she hasn’t heard from him in weeks.”

Example 2:
Person 1: “So how is it going with that Cindy girl?”
Person 2: “No good, I don’t think it’s going anywhere.”
Person 1: “Oh crap...how did you break it to her?”
Person 2: “No problem, I just avoidachopped her – too easy.”

Coitus Avoidus

Closely related to the cock-block (cockus-blockus). Occurs when you are trying to solidify a possible sexual encounter, only to be stifled by either the conscious or inadvertant action of a third party. Quite often, the offending third party is a friend who wants to subvert your sexual activity.

I was at a party last week dancing with this really cool girl, when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw Steve coming in for the kill. Steve got in between this girl and myself and started telling her I had a girlfriend, even though I don't. He also told her that I was a born-again Christian, and she shouldn't be tempting me with her sex. It was at that moment I realized Steve had served me up a clinical case of coitus avoidus.

aggressive avoidance

The act of not being in the same place as another person (i.e. avoiding, ghosting) in such a ridiculous manner to blatantly demonstrate that the absence is not circumstantial, but a deliberate choice.

Aggressive avoidance involves tactics that often appear to harm the doer more than the receiver. However, the avoider's self-inflicted pain or inconvenience is offset by the thrill he/she gets from blowing the other person off.

Janet: Does your roommate still live here? I haven't seen her in the hallway for the past few weeks and her car isn't here.
Tiffany: Oh, she still lives here. Look at her scaling side of the apartment building to get into her window. Her aggressive avoidance is because she lost a fight with me. Silly bitch.
