Baby Blanket Trauma

Things that parents do or say that they think is no big deal, but actually has a long lasting effect on their kids. Similar to when a childs baby blanket gets lost, damaged, ect. and parents think it's unimportant even though their child is very upset about it.

intergenerational trauma

An extremely up-your-butt way of saying “parental abuse.”
Last semester my professor wouldn’t stop talking about “intergenerational trauma” because she blamed her mother for all her problems.

Suburban-trauma

Trauma occurring in blatantly suburban things, ex: drunk parent at soccer practice. Often further developed by gaslighting because it’s not gang violence or it “could be worse.” Commonly in relation with parents, substance abuse, and the legal system. Additionally kids are often in denial or extremely defensive when someone brings up how that thing or event wasn’t normal.
A: “Remember that time dad drunk drove to your soccer game and got into a screaming match with grandma?”
B: “Yeah we’ve got that suburban-trauma…”
