It is also the name of a type of animated Japanese show in a type of style, similar to how Manga looks.

Excellent cartoon art with beautifully drawn characters. They usually make it into comic strips, T.V. shows and movies. Mostly produced in Japan, but understand that a lot of great anime are also created in China and Korea. It's just that most ones signed on to American television shows are Japanese produced. Overall, anime is ultrally cool
