A way to tell someone to be ready for something bad to come when you are not in a good position to fight back.

Bullied guy( lets call him Ivan): *talks*
friend of bullied guy (lets call him Max): Ivan, look out the window, the delinquents are coming for you...
Ivan: Oh sh*t, WHAT Do I DO??

Looking at the rivets

When a certain commodity or supply in in such short supply that you're almost out of it entirely. Used similarly to "running on fumes". Originated from riveted tanks, when they're almost empty you can see the rivets.

I'm about out of propane. Another day or two and I'll be looking at the rivets.
