Pig reflex

Not exactly a reflex, but it's a term used to describe the phenomenon of feeling sleepy after eating a heavy meal.

Once I cleared the buffet table, my pig reflexes were acting up.

Urban Dictionary Rejection Reflection

When you try to publish a word on Urban Dictionary, it is rejected, and you pause to contemplate why.

I try to define rapediculous on U.D. as a situation that is bad and also ridiculous, but this word and definition is rejected. Why? Too naughty / sexist? There's far filthier on U.D... Not funny? Not used? I use it... How can I clean it up slightly and get it through? ...Do they have a file on me?...Is it time for me to grow up?...the Urban Dictionary Rejection Reflection...

reflector

A shiny red or yellow light that reflects off of a peice of plastic? (magical material) that helps cars and or pedestrians notice whats up. very helpful to bicyclist and one hell of an invention. props to the brilliant inventer. :

Dude thank god we have reflectors on our bikes. That car totally would have not seen us. We coulda ate sh!t.

Budrys Reflex

The protective response that erases the knowledge of a truth that contradicts a Widely Believed Fact to prevent the painful effects of Cognitive Dissonance.

Simply put, the way people will immediately forget the truth about something if they prefer to believe the more popular theory or idea - Most commonly seen in conspiracy theorists, the Tinfoil Hat Brigade and in political discussions.

Derived fromt he name Algis Budrys, SF writer, who wrote a story about mental and physical supermen who were ignored by the public for their acheivements by a similar effect in the story 'Nobody Bothers Gus'.

A:( who suffers from Budrys Reflex) We spend too much money on the space programme - they should give that money to the teachers or sumthin' . . .

B:(Opens Federal budget) Well, look . . . Nasa gets 3.5billion bucks a year, and the HEW gets 32.1 billion - Ten times as much!

A:Oh. ( Reflex kicks in ) Oh, maybe there's more from the CIA or the Freemasons going into NASA then.

Restlessticity

The feeling a community college student gets when they are about to lose their mind. Having hit the point where ridiculous ideas sound like normal good ideas. Reaching the point in your life where you wonder what on earth you are doing and then figuring it out agin in a matter of minutes. Going from sane to crazy instantly.
