Usually people who are ex-swagfags are pretending to be emo and listen to music by sleeping with sirens and pierce the veil even though pierce the veil is not an actual metal band in reality it is rock however a fake metalhead probably started listening to fake metal in early 2013 or late 2012. Real metalheads usually know the difference between the posers and the real deal (i am personally more of a rock fan but i enjoy some metal) fake metalheads are also normally female (though some male too) and are normally between the ages of 12 and 14.
Fake metalhead: omgomgomg i <3 kellin quinn and sws they so hot omg yea i hate justin bieber and one direction im different YEA

Get the fake metalhead mug.A person who knows they listen to real metal, but won't brag or rub it in people's faces. A real metalhead knows alot of bands, listens to either old or new ones, regardless if they're mainstream or underground. A real metalhead doesn't judge others by their appearance or bands they listen to. The way you dress doesn't make you a metalhead.
Dam. That guy is a real metalhead. He knows alot of bands and goes to shows and has a good time. He doesn't care what others think about his appearance.

Get the real metalhead mug.Corporate Metalhead (CMH) is a honorary designation awarded by a Metalhead to an exceptional well-mannered Corporate or public figure who shares Metalhead values and fights the unwarranted negative stereotypes commonly associated with Metalhead culture. Beneath the professional and conservative appearance is a true Metalhead personality, faithfully following the progression of today's Metal and loyal to those of yesterday.
Corporate Metalheads are a sub-culture of Metalheads typically possessing a mix of liberal and conservative tendencies. CMH's are rarely found on the frontlines of Metalhead culture. They are living the American Dream, financially responsible, family-oriented and enjoy a variety of music - but their true passion is that of Metal.
CMH's are aware that Metalheads fall victim to a culturally ignorant society and to maintain their good impression will admit their passion for Metal when an inquiry is made, or following a conservative first impression. CMH’s are by no means embarrassed by their Metalhead counterparts; it is in fact a strategy employed to fight stereotypes. Another reason why a CMH will disclose their love for Metal is if they are provoked. See Example 1
A CMH is often part of a Metalhead circle - you can easily spot one at a party by looking for a neat, almost fussy looking individual, nodding their head to All That Remains and singing the words only a true Metalhead would know!

As any Metalhead knows and has experienced, there is always that ONE person that just has to go there and say something stupid like, "I think my son worships the Devil. He's obsessed with this awful kind of evil music! How could anyone like a song where all they do is scream and you can't understand a word they're saying!"
A true Corporate Metalhead will spring to action and will explain in the most professional manner that Metal is commonly misunderstood, and if one would take the time to study the music (as most Metalheads take pride in doing) - you will find the lyrics aren't that dark, often have implied meaning and the music is quite complex! To a CMH, it just sounds like the kid has an affinity for Metal and may recommend the parent consider getting the kid some guitar / drum / vocal lessons so both parties benefit.
If you're a professional like me, who just loves the opportunity to talk about Metal try putting this on your personal business card:
Jonathan Smith, CMH
That will get them asking!

Get the Corporate Metalhead mug.People with a theoretical knowledge of Metal they really like to show to everyone that exceeds knowing simple facts, for example that screamo isn"t a genre, but only how scene people call genres like Hardcore, Metalcore, Melodic Death Metal,...., by far, but no idea what being a metalhead means. Some of them haven"t been to a concert in their entire life. They normally have nothing better to do than sitting in front of their computers all day long, watching youtube videos and, by commenting, defending their selection of favourite bands as "the only real Metal" against others and attacking their selections as "not Metal at all", or searching for probably not useful, but scientifically correct genre names. They normally attack people with different opinions personally

real metalhead: awesome song! Especially live!!!!!
youtube metalhead 1: nice Progressive Metal
youtube metalhead 2: you retard, are you deaf or what? That"s nowhere near Progressive Metal, it"s Experimental Death Metal!
youtube metalhead 3: you idiot, you"re too stupid for listening! That has no Death Metal elements!!! It"s Technical Post Thrash Metal!!!!!

Get the youtube metalhead mug.Usually very ignorant. Gets into Metal through bands like Slipknot. They start feeling cool and unique and need to express how Metal is the supreme genre.
How to spot one
1) Says a guitarist isn't good if they can't play fast.
2) Says a guitarist isn't good if they can't play technical.
3) Blasts Metal on their iPods thinking someone will ask them what they are listening to so they can show off how awesome they think their musical taste is to others.
4) Tries to introduce you to Metal by telling you all bands you like suck.
5) Thinks all bands that aren't Metal have no talent.
6) Doesn't know what good Metal vocals are.
Newbie Metalheads usually smarten up, they usually take up guitar and realize that speed isn't everything. Wanting to compose music they go through the tons of influences of their influences and from there they go to their influences which leads them into lots of music which isn't Metal. Then they become people who are open to tons of music, having liked music that is condemned by most people.

Get the newbie metalhead mug.A person who is a true metal head but dresses and is a part of the Hip Hop pop culture. This could be vise versa. These people tend to be abundant in city life but could be found anywhere. And their taste in Hip Hop/Rap is actually a bit different from most people in the Urban pop culture, they tend to like Hip Hop/Rap with actual lyrics...not that Soulja Boy crap.
That guy is wearing a big hoodie and baggy pants like a rapper, but he's rocking out to Slipknot, he must be an Urban Metalhead

Get the Urban Metalhead mug.a generally angry mood that revolves around someone who's had an unfortunate accident involving getting their head dipped in molten metal
ned kelly was often a frustrated metalhead although in this particular case he chose to wear metal to symbolise his respect for those involved in molten metal-related accidents
