Payday Loan

A payday loan is when you get an advance on your paycheck and pay it back with interest on payday. Generally this interest is 15%. Payday loans are set up to automatically pay themselves back because you post-date a check when you get the loan. If you get to the point where you are getting payday loans from other places to pay back the first payday loan, you are fucked. Payday loans should be avoided at all costs, as they fuck you in the long run. Many states have laws against certain payday loan practices.

Dude 1: Dude, come to the concert with us, it's payday!

Dude 2: Dude, I can't, I have to pay back these payday loans.

Dude 1: Dude, just get another one.

Dude 2: Oh yeah! Then I'll have money until next payday!

loan shark

Term for a person, usually a member of organized crime, offering loans without background checks, collateral, etc. etc., but charges insane interest ($100s, even $1000s per day in some cases), and has henchmen who will hurt or even kill those who do not repay the loan within a certain time (usually a week or so).

John got beat to shit by Loan Shark Tino Capellini's henchmen for not paying on time. If John doesn't pay Tino back by next week, they will kill him.

slipping in the turning lane

To get car jacked in the far right lane at an intersection because you stopped instead of rolling through and making the right turn. This term was made infamous in Texas. Mainly in the Houston, Dallas, and Port Arthur areas. Car jackers set up and hide at intersections waiting for a vehicle of there liking to roll through. If it stops and is in the turning lane, car jackers ambush the vehicle, get in and make the right for the previous driver never to be seen again. Car jackers who do this, have no shortage of victims in Texas. Many people in Texas have slabs and/or customized, flashy vehicles and one of the ways they show them off is by moving slow or stopping in the turning lane near intersections.

When your in Texas, don't EVER get caught slipping in the turning lane.

lane drifting

On a multi-lane road (usually a highway or mainstreet), lane drifting is when a car suddenly begins 'drifting' over the lanes, usually because the driver isn't paying attention, or cannot see the lanes because they aren't painted well enough.

Usually they'll hover between two lanes, going the speed limit, and holding up traffic in both lanes.

I was stuck going 65 because the guy infront of me was lane drifting between the left lane and center lane, and was apparently oblivious to the chorus of car horns being layed upon him.
