What every 12 year old girl in middle school feels like after their best friend went to Starbucks without them
Sally: Hey guys where are you going?
Mary: Oh were just gonna get Starbucks but I don’t have enough money for you so
Sally: *cries for no reason* you made me DEPRESSED EEEEEEEEEEE

Feeling depression, a dark and serious emotion, which is sometimes dangerous. It contains a feeling of sadness and numbness, which doesn't go away over time. Now it is being used by "qUirKy" fourteen-year-olds to be edgy and relatable, therefore losing its original meaning.
Thirteen-year-old basic white girl named Jessica who forgets to do her homework one night: sIgH, i aM depressed guys, i waNna die😭

The word a 14 yr old girl uses to describe herself thinking that people will give her more attention.
Lily: oh hey I’m lily
Hannah: oh hi I’m Hannah and oh btw I’m depressed
Lily: ...
Hannah: *goes back to her room full of LED lights and posts herself crying on tik tok for more attention

My definition of depression is probably recognizable.
Imagine going to a beach and swimming in the water. Having fun until something suddenly pulls you down under and holds onto you. You’re screaming for help but know one seems to hear better yet care. So you’re just stuck there, watching everyone carry on with their life while you’re down under water drowning, trying to scream for help but have no voice left to say anything.
That is what depression feels like to me

Girl 1: look at that girl. She looks like a wreck
Girl 2: Don’t say that. That girl over there has depression
