'Your mum' is a cuss originating presumably from one of the many ghettos in the UK. Mainly used by chavs, it is a comeback to an insult that cannot be beaten in any other way. Also used as an answer to almost any question, it is one of the most universal cuss downs of the twenty first century as of yet.

Initiating insult:'Shut up you ignoramus.'
Comeback:'Why don't you tell your mum to shut up!'

Speaking without authority or unclearly.

Usually used amongst friends, can be a merciful out for a person who starts talking and realizes halfway through their speech that they haven't a clue what the point they were trying to make was.

Your stoned friend who keeps endlessly blabbing on and on about the blue dophins of conciousness holding his eyelids open with a toothpick could be quickly shut up by being told "Dude - your mouth is open!"
