Streaming Generation

The Streaming Generation has come of age in the era of music and movie streaming on apps such as Spotify and Pandora. This generation will have little to no memory of a time when CDs and DVDs were relevant media in their respective field. The time period covered by this generation is approximately 20005 to the present day, giving them a significant overlap with generation Z. Members of this generation are likely to prioritize efficiency in the way they consume music and video, however there have also been some backlash to this, which have led many of them to re-embrace older forms of these, particularly vinyl records.

Contrast with: ITunes generation, CD generation, Vinyl generation
The Streaming Generation have come to expect maximal efficiency in their music listening and film viewing experiences, at the expense of the personal quality of physical ownership, yet some are discovering ways to balance the old with the new, as evidenced by the resurgence of vinyl records in spite of the ubiquity of streaming services.

generic-grocery gawk

Refers to the astonished stare that you assume when taste-testing two or more brands of a particular supermarket-offering and unexpectedly discover that you actually **prefer** the lower-priced store-brand (which traditionally would be expected to have a "weaker 'n' thinner" flavor/texture), rather than a costlier "big name" product.
Being on SSI and Food Stamps and thus having a very-limited budget, I am used to just buying the "el-cheapo" store-brand of groceries whenever I can stand their usually-milder-tasting flavors. Occasionally I do "splurge" and buy the pricier "fancy-pants" foods, though, when the taste is dramatically better, such as Nutella hazelnut spread or Armour Vienna sausage. One startling exception to this latter condition, though, was in the case of Dinty-Moore beef stew as opposed to just the Great Value brand... I bought a can of DM just to try it out in comparison to the WalMart brand, and I had a total case of generic-grocery gawk --- the Dinty-Moore brand was absolutely a-w-f-u-l, whereas the richly-tasty Great Value stew won hands-down! Boy, ya never know till ya try it, do ya???

Generation Z

Also called Gen Z or Zoomers.

People born from 1996 to as early as 2009, and as late as 2012.
Most of us are teenagers, but there is a stereotype that most of us are on our phones on TikTok 24/7/365 made by Boomers and Gen X, ignoring the ones who already graduated from High School. We are the first Generation to grow up with the Internet, and probally the last to grow up with a Television. succeeded by Generation Alpha, with an in-between called Generation Zalpha, 2008-2012.

actually, not all of us are raging commies on twitter and on tiktok.

Mid Gen Z 2001-2006
Late Gen Z 2007-2009
Sam is an Early Gen Z because she was born in 2000.
Jake is a Middle Gen Z because he was born in 2004.
Chris is a Late Gen Z because he was born in 2007.

Generation Z

Generation Z is the generation that were kids in the 2000s and 2010s, and are teenagers/young adults/tweens in the late 2010s to 2020s. If you are currently in 2022 below the age of 26 and older than 5, you're going to get called a zoomer.

Zoomer existence is marked by egirls, eboys, tiktok, discord, spotify, VRchat, roblox, brocoli haircuts and mullets. Popular music includes Tyler the Creator, Playboi Carti, ASAP Rocky, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, the Weeknd, the Garden, hyperpop like Charli XCX, breakcore like Sewerslvt, obscure rap scenes like Bladee and draingang, and of course bedroom indie pop like Clairo, Mild High Club, Beabadoobee and Mac Demarco. Popular TV shows include Euphoria, Sex Education, Stranger Things, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kakegurui and Attack on Titan.

Gen Z was too young or not born yet during 9/11, and (mostly) were in high school/middle school/college during quarantine. Some were in the work force and some not yet in middle school.

According to Wikipedia, Google, Pew Research and even congress, Gen Z was born from 1997 to 2012. However, many elitists who do not want to be associated with kids try to change it to 2000-2009, despite the societal reality of those kids being teenagers very soon after them and being seen as zoomers by the general public. It is likely Gen Z may even be lengthened in the future depending on the cultural path of the 2020s.
