I'm actually a pom dancer, I have to admit, but I consider myself a cheerleader as we do cheer moves. (I'll add an entry for a pom dancer in a minute).
A cheerleader is often seen as blonde, 6"tall and a dress size 000 with a nasty attitude towards everybody who's 'beneath' her, promiscuous and isn't especially intelligent. However, this is very much a stereotype which many movies love playing up to *sad sigh*.
Cheerleading isn't just about shaking pompoms, being happy and smiley all the time and showing off to the fit boys, oh no!
It requires a lot of physical strength (Especially when lifting other memebers of the squad), balance, concentration, fitness and flexibility (Always handy when trying to do the splits or a toetouch!)
There is a huge variety in my squad! There are a few blonde girlie girls, but one girl in my squad is a UK size 20 and she's really good. Nobody is taller than about 5"8 in my squad and the range varies from UK size 6 to UK size 20, some are prettier than others and - although we may not all LOOK like stereotypical cheerleaders and/or act like them, we work hard for our squad and enjoy it.
See the example to show what I'm like as a cheerleader.

In MY case, a cheerleader is a chubby UK size 10 with cropped dark brown hair with blue flashes in it, thick glasses (Unless doing competitions^, in which case contacts are required), a Mensan (152-point IQ), lesbian and NOT always happy and perky and dressed in skimpy designer gear. (I'm more likely to wear baggy jeans than anything else).
^Wouldn't want my glasses to get trampled on, would I? Lawl!!

Get the Cheerleader mug.A cheerleader is a strong smart athlete with tons of confidence. Cheerleaders are often portrayed as sluts, hoes, dumbasses, girly girlies and wimps. That's not it at all. People who hate cheerleaders hate them because they are jealous and wish they could do half of what we can do.
I myself am a cheerleader and i constantly get discriminated against. I sucks. But if you hate on me get over it, because I bet you can't do HALF of what I can. Cheerleading is a sport. plain and simple.

Get the cheerleader mug.A cheerleader is normally thought of as a blond bimbo with giant boobs. That's not true. I'm a cheerleader and I'm in all honors classes and getting straight As. Cheerleading is a sport that requires you to work hard. I do a hundred sit ups and pushups a day and I'm a flyer. Cheerleading is also about trust. I have to trust people I just met to throw me up in the air and then catch me. In two weeks I hyper extended both of my knees because of cheerleading. We have to jump, dance, yell, and lift people up in the air. Cheerleaders have to have strength, balance, and flexibility. Everyone thinks cheerleaders are popular but in my school we are made fun of. I also personally believe in no sex till marriage so not all cheerleaders are sluts. Cheerleading is hard and I would love to see anyone who has never cheered try and do what we do. It is not easy.

Get the cheerleader mug.a most likely pretty, popular girl in middle school or high school. shes probably going to be preppy and always say like. But besides that shes really into spirit and cheerleading on the sidelines at basketball, or football games.she may be dumb... she may be smart. she may be blonde... she may be brunette. but shes going to keep up with latest fads. FOR SURE!

Get the cheerleader mug.cheerleading is a sport. i am not going to brag or rant, but cheerleaders have to throw people into the air, and catch them while smiling. do not tell me cheerleading is not a sport until you have done it please. just because we arnt scoring with a ball dosnt mean its not a sport. Not all cheerleaders are blonde dumb bitchy white girls. We are diverse, friendly, smart (as anyone else) we look out for each other when now one else will. We dont lose our virginity to jocks! none of the cheerleaders at my school are dating a football player! it is all just a stereotype. We are people who have feelings and when you make fun of cheerleading and such it hurts us :'( we are just people trying to enjoy our favorite sport like everybody else, but for some reason, everyone hates cheerleaders. We have to live on different standards than everyone else. Please understand us. Thank you <3

Get the cheerleader mug.OK, i cannot belive ppl can judge us like this. satistics show that cheerleaders are less likely to become involved with sex, drugs, alcohol, and illegal activities, than the average teen. This is mainly because cheerleaders are constantly being judged by ppl like sum of the ppl that have posted entries abt this. cheerleading builds confidence and increases athletic ability. AN IT IS A SPORT! he-llo. you would only be able to tell that, of course, if you were actually UP THERE WITH ALL EYES ON YOU AND EVERYONE WATCHING FOR THE "PERFECT" CHEERLEADER TO MAKE A MISTAKE. IT IS HARD WORK! we work for hours during the school year and also the summer for these ppl, and all they can focus on is pointing out our faults. we're not perfect, we're athletes, and we deserve to treated like them.
