Ex:

How can it be "brilliant" if he doesn't act like me (in the context of the claim that the movie is a character study)?

Hym "You want to know the difference between a 'character study' and 'This character is based on...'? It's whether or not it's a brilliant movie or it sucks. If the movie is brilliant then it's 'The genius director's brilliant analysis of a character's behavior that only SEEMS like it was written by someone other than the guy who claims to have written it.' If it sucks then 'It's just based on this guy but It'S nOt An AcCuRaTe PoRtRaYaL! The act of putting him in your movie as an antagonist isn't justifiable because he's... He's just such a swell guy!'
