2. a clique of marginal writers who don't believe in adjectives nor adverbs. Usually shepherded by a relatively well-known author whose outsized ego has plucked them to be passable to teach intro workshops but without enough talent to ever eclipse him.
3.work published in thick-papered journals with cryptic names.

This story told from the perspective of a lesbian angel who now works as a cook at a camp in wyoming for kids with skin diseases and also has an epistolary correspondence with her puerto rican roommates mother, whom she is advising on suicide, strikes me as very stegner fellowesque.

Steiner

A character called Adelbert Steiner from the videogame Final Fantasy IX. He is Captain of the Knights of Pluto and goes around shouting a lot. Nevertheless or perhaps by consequence he has a small cult following consisting of those who believe him to be God.

There are many other Steiners. Bear in mind that all of them are named after the almighty and omnipotent Adelbert Steiner. These include some wrestlers and some philosopher guy.

I am Adelbert Steiner and I will not work with you conniving thieves!
