Something of which the quality, tone and/or intellectuality of something, especially a word or phrase has been severely reduced.

"Neva seen" is a gremlinisation of "Golly".
"yewoh?" is a gremlinisation of "I beg you pardon?"
"West Side Story" is a gremlinisation of "Romeo and Julliet"
