Daed

A cryptocurrency term for "deactivated". For instance, "shit, they just daed my bro's account!"

When people working in the crypto industry were let go by their companies because of crypto winter, their company's Slack accounts would be disabled with the word "deactivated account" added as an overlay to their profile pictures.

The word "deactivated" then became so sensitive, and the company would monitor people's chats to see if the word was being mentioned. Staff then replaced the word with "daed" to avoid being caught.

Coincidentally, you could also take the word as "dead" which would also work for the context.

Your colleague: Hey, I heard your company just fired 5% of its staff! You alright?

You: Lots of accounts were daed... And you know what, when I looked at the staff count, it seems like the cut was way more... lol
