A word with an ambiguous meaning, occasionally used as a term of admiration but more often as an epithet for someone who is promiscuous but does so in a less than admirable way. Unlike the “player” of the gen-x Black subculture, other males are less likely to admire fuck boys and it is okay to hate them (as opposed to the stigma of being a player-hater ) because of these methods, which often are perceived as un- masculine and play with a woman’s emotions by being vulnerable and professing love , something a player would be much less likely to do. This vulnerability, along with an androgynous style, may in fact be genuine and is the product of the fuck boys own confusion and psychological neuroses. Genuine or not, a fuck boy, like a junkie, will renege on previous promises and then act as if his behavior was intentional or innocent, depending on the circumstances.
