A variation on the phrase, shed some light on the situation. To point out the negative aspects in a situation. These aspects may or may not be obvious. The one who sheds the blood, or the shedder, might be trying to educate people to the facts or just be a douche. No matter the intentions, nine times out of ten, the shedder comes off as a douche.
Alan: Hey guys I got accepted into Princeton!

Greg: Nice! Way to go man.

Chad: Well have fun with your massive tuition dude.
