"I'm Not Okay" is a phrase that fans or listeners of the genre use when mad or sad. It's usually written on what you call "Emo Kids" bios of MySpace. The phrase was created in 2004 when the song I'm Not Okay (I Promise) was released by the Pop Punk band My Chemical Romance.

Also used to state that the speaker is about to morph from their mild mannered self into a crazed alter ego.
