Cultural segregation is the opposite end of the spectrum from cultural appropriation. The phrase "cultural appropriation" is sometimes used disingenuously with the end goal of discouraging culture mixing.

Someone said I was "appropriating Cuban culture" by using that rhythm in a song, but remixing culture is what keeps things interesting. Could you imagine how boring a world of cultural segregation would be, with nobody sharing ideas?
