(verb) To ruin a freshly painted fingernail or toenail by touching it to something before it has had time to dry.

(noun)A gouge in a freshly painted fingernail, especially a significant one that looks really bad and needs to be completely redone.

Don't let the cat come over here now--my nails are still wet and he'll skomph them for me! Oh, great, I knew it, now there's a big skomph, and cat fur as well! I'll have to remove all this polish and start over.
