The act of a man explaining something he may not really know to a woman who does, and the assumption behind it that knowledge is somehow inherent in the male condition, paralleling a void of knowledge waiting to be filled in the female condition.

At a coffee shop, a group of mothers discuss breastfeeding; a man interjects to provide his opinion of the pros and cons of the activity, thereby mansplaining.

Mansplaining

When a man explains something in very simple terms. Can sound condescending, but he usually does it because you didn’t understand it in complex terms. When done to a man, the man responds with something along the lines of “Oh that makes sense now” but when you mansplain to a women they call you sexist for thinking they’re dumb

Man: A panzer is not the German word for tank as they didn’t want to be associated with the allied powers so they shortened the German word for tank and made slight adjustments to the machine such as diesel fuel and extra armor.

Mansplaining is a portmanteau of the words man and explaining, defined as "to explain something to someone, typically a man to woman, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing."

Woman: *writes a detailed paragraph explaining a subject they know more about with added links to resources*
Mansplainer: *ignores the evidence and talks about the previous topic albeit they know nothing about it.
Woman: Quit mansplaining me, you look like a nonsensical idiot.
