Glow Squid

1) An underwater Minecraft Mob that, like it says on the tin, is a squid that glows. It lights up underwater areas and drops Glow Squid Ink, but has little other purpose.

2) In a poll or competition, to win not based on one's merit but based on the endorsement of someone with influence, in reference to the Minecraft Glow Squid's divisive win against the Moobloom and Iceologer in its Mob Vote, often believed to have been caused by Minecraft Youtuber Dream's endorsement of the Glow Squid.

1) The Glow Squid doesn't actually have a hypnotizing status effect. Shiny things in video games just hypnotize you anyways.

2) That Twitter poll would have totally turned out differently if there weren't a bunch of influencers glow squidding the vote.
