Coat-tailer

Someone who rides off the coat tails of someone else to climb the 'proverbial' ladder - career, social, etc.

A coat-tailer is someone who only dates/marries or hangs around people of a certain status, (ie. salary, profession, social standing), who aspires to get the good life without earning it themselves.

Revolving around a professional, college or even high school football game, tailgating is a supercharged, urban picnic party. Participants prepare food, drink, bring flags and other football team paraphernalia. Tailgaters congregate around the car, listen to the game on the radio, enjoy the food and bond.
