This word became a much more popular search term after the release of a song called Watermelon Sugar High by the UK artist Harry Styles in 2019

There has been much debate over what, if any, product or item this song has been referencing.

The most popular theory is that he's singing about an old variety of heroin that was widely used in Georgia in the late 80's - however, he would have been unable to experience the effects of this narcotic as it was certainly unavailable by the time 2019 rolled around.

Luckily, there seems to be a more realistic and likely theory to explain what this unknown item could be.

He would seem to be singing about a particular variety of high strength cannabis extract called Sugar Crumble which can come in Watermelon flavor.

Sugar crumble is named for it's crystalline structure and crumble type of appearance. It's one of many similar cannabis extract varieties such as shatter, wax, crumble and whip - each named for their look or structural design

The word that’s been stuck at #1 trending for over a year, because the words on the Trending page for this website haven’t been updated in over a year, most likely because Urban Dictionary staff either completely forgot that the page existed, or because they gave up and purposefully abandoned it.
The Trending page is more frozen than a Canadian lake during the Winter. I mean, even if it’s about the Harry Styles song, THE HARRY STYLES SONG “WATERMELON SUGAR” WAS RELEASED IN MAY 2020. IT’S JUNE 2021 THIS IS RIDICULOUS

Watermelon Sugar is a metaphor for something that just does not exist. It seems plausible, because artificial watermelon flavor usually has sugar added. But an actual watermelon has no sugar, in fact people add salt instead. So it could also possibly be an ironic example that is substituting sugar for salt .
She is just too good to be true, she's watermelon sugar.

She appears to be sweet, but at closer taste most definitely salty.

In Watermelon Sugar is a book by Richard Brautigan, that describes the fantasy world of the counter-culture/hippies. It's about making love and tigers who help you with multiplication then go back to eating your parents and not saying your name. It's very trippy/far out.
His VW bus was such a trip on the inside, he had to name it Watermelon Sugar, and when you came out of it, your whole world changed; just because you had been inside Watermelon Sugar.
