Apocalypse friend

noun - friend who, unlike the antonym fair weather friend, is there through all the fire and brimstone moments in life. When a person is unwell, heartbroken, jobless, homeless or even had a day from hell this friend is patiently there through the worst of it. They are the friend to the end.

Following a bad break up and the death of a well loved grandparent, I battled with depression. My apocalypse friend wasn't phased by any of the hell fire or brimstone, they held my hand and led me through the worst of it.

When an app you have come to depend on stops working such that you can't get it to work again for the life of you. An appocalypse can be so brutal that it may result in your spending great sums of money on a new device that can run the (most likely free) app you have gotten so addicted to.

A: "Oh no! Candy Crush is no longer working on my iPod! Now what am I supposed to do with my life???"

B: "Maybe it's not too late to stop this appocalypse in its tracks! Try updating the OS and then reinstalling the app!"
