Generally, goths value their own image or making a certain statement over being a productive member of society. Unable to see past their desire to reject a follow-the-heard-mentality, they will often dress in a way that may prevent them from landing job interviews, or being invited to certain social gatherings which may prove to be real door openers in terms of making a productive life for themselves.
Many, but not all goths will ironically speak poorly of those who conform to societal demands, while simultaneously conforming to the subculture of their choice.

Get the Goth mug.A clique that was created in the eighties. A Goth is a person who’s similar to an Emo, but less “Whiny”. The whole Goth culture surrounds the concept of being “unique” (against conformity) and hating the mainstream. These people are highly hypocritical in the sense that they claim to go against conformity yet conform to the Goth lifestyle. Due to the overwhelming amount of depressed teenagers in the world, being Gothic no longer goes against the mainstream. They have become part of the mainstream society and thus must conform to become a Goth.

Get the Goth mug.GOTHS : It is basically undefinable b'coz "GOTH" means different things 2 each followers. It is up 2 the individual to define wad GOTH is for themselves. As for me, Goth has the blood of a punk. It then survive on as its own subculture. But some says that goths originated in the medieval age...
About the dressings. Wearing all black does not mean u're goth. Because goths loves to be unique & be different from the others. They do not care what people gonna say about em' because they know that they've got their own originality not like those people who loves common things & be the same as the others...The norm people would dress up the same & follows the trend but goths does not envy popularity... & a goth does not like to dress up the same as the other goths do...
Being a goth is interesting. It does not matter what religion are u because Goth is a CULTURE & NOT A RELIGION! In music wise, it also depends on which type of goth music u like to listen to... eg. Goth rock, ethareal, darkambient etc... As for me, i preferred on listening 2 ethareal which is most characterized by saprano female vocls combined with almost classical or folk type instrumentation which creates a surreal, angelic or love spiral downwards. Ethareal music often contains opera-like vocals... Ethareal is a subdivision in itself, however it is grouped towards the darkwave end rather than the gothic rock end...

Get the Goth mug.Goths are a group of people who are just being themselves and in most cases don't actually label themsevles goth ( they are against labels in general)goth people are often artistic in some form and very creative. goth people are not super depressed people who decide to ware all black to piss off their parants (those who do this are posers). they are their own culture and would rather be themselves then fit in amoung a cookie cutter society.
Also most people asume they can't have fun, guess what they do have fun and laugh just like everyone else.
