When someone has lots of friends, they'll be a hierarchy going from bestie to last resort friend. The higher up you on the hierarchy the more events you'll be invited to secrets you'll be told.

Jess: Hey did Nat invite you to her birthday party?

Brenda: Nope, she told me I'm not high enough on the friend hierarchy. She's only inviting besties and close friends.

Brad: Shit did you hear Dan's engaged!
Carl:Yeah, can't believe he got his girlfriend pregnant!
Brad:Wait what?
Carl:Shit I wasn't supposed to tell you that, you're too low on the friend hierarchy.

Tim:Hey I heard you booked an escape room, can I come?
Kath: I'm sorry but there's very few spaces, only those at the top of the friend hierarchy are coming.

Tim: Ah ok, fair enough.

A friend or acquaintance who is so cute, fun, witty and charming, that you want them to go everywhere with you.

"Chrissy you are my new keychain friend - I wish I could shrink you down and keep you in my pocket so you could go everywhere with me."

You might also use the term keychain before their name, such as "Keychain Chrissy"

bootleg friend

(n) A person who you may tell to their face they are your friend or a person who you don't actually like/trust for whatever character flaw. They may be in your friend circle but on a one-on-one basis they are not a friend to you. However you keep them around because for whatever reason it may be, they help you in some way.

Jim: Why do you chill with Eric? I hear he snitched on Kenny. Plus he's kind of a dick to your sister.

Greg: Because he can get me alcohol. He's pretty stupid so he doesn't know I hang with him just to get me drinks. He's just a bootleg friend.

bandaid friend

A short-term friend who helps others feel emotionally better. When they've done all they could (usually with success), they exit the other friends life. This short-term friend is kind, helpful, a good listener, and can make any sad friend feel better. This "bandaid friend" can be mysterious, and may be reluctant to let other friends come close confidants. They're very approachable on the outside, but an introvert on the inside. These bandaid friends mean the best, and have a heavy heart for people, whether it's for the underdog, or just a sad person who needs to talk; meaning they're great with secrets.
